An expert on the legal and regulatory systems that govern AI and other complex global technologies, Gillian is the Director of the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society at UofT.
Gillian’s research focuses on how we can design innovative legal and regulatory systems for AI and other complex global technologies. She is the Director of the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society at the University of Toronto, a faculty affiliate at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence, and a senior policy advisor at OpenAI.
Mohawk Language Learner and Teacher
Ryan is working to revitalize Kanien’kéha (Mohawk language) through instructing students at an adult immersion school, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto.
Ryan is working to revitalize Kanien’kéha (Mohawk language). He is an instructor and curriculum developer at Onkwawén:na Kentyóhkwa, an immersion school for adults, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Centre for Indigenous Studies at the University of Toronto.

This event is almost 2 hours long – is there a break?
Yes! There is a break in the middle of the event to allow you to pop to the washroom, stretch, chat with your friends about the talks, or refresh your drink.
Can I ask the Speakers questions?
Yes! For the first time ever, TEDxToronto is holding virtual Breakout Sessions at the end of the event for you to have an opportunity to ask a question to your favourite speaker.
Can I watch a recording of the event after March 4th?
The TEDxTalks from our October 29th and November 26th events can be found here. The February 4th and March 4th experiences are for ticket holders on event day only and recordings will be shared in the coming months.

The last event of our Digital Event Series is Thursday March 4th, 2021 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM EST.
How do I join the event?
You received an email the week of the event with your ticket link to join the event. The link to join the event is in this email, and is also in the calendar hold included in that email. Remember, your ticket link is unique to you only, so don’t share with anyone else.

I can’t find my ticket email

I’ve checked everywhere, my ticket email is nowhere to be found! What do I do?
No problem, please email operations@tedxtoronto.com from the email you purchased your ticket with, and we will get back to you right away with a new link to the event.

If you get bumped out of the event, it is likely because you shared your unique ticket link with a friend or peer. Only one person can use that link at a time!
