Take a look into our TED Circles programming!
In early 2020, we started TED Circles as a way to connect our broader TEDxToronto community and provide an intimate platform that would allow attendees to openly share their ideas and perspectives. Picture it like a book club, but around TED talks. Where a small group of people gather together every month to discuss a different TED talk. It gives people the opportunity to learn, to question, to challenge, and to connect with other open-minded participants.
What it has become over the last 10 months has been all this and much more. In a time when we haven’t been able to gather in person, uncertainties have defined our day-to-day and social distancing has been abundant, Circles has become a place for our attendees to feel a sense of community, virtually.
From starting at 3-4 Circles with about 100 attendees, we’ve now grown to nearly 500 participants. This is all thanks to our TED Circles attendees who consistently show up, contribute their thoughts openly, and listen with empathy to their fellow participants.
Today, we’re highlighting one of our regular participants: Ron Nakagawa. As a passionate member of the TEDxToronto community, Ron is a constant presence in our Circles, sharing his unique perspectives and encouraging more in-depth discussions in our sessions.
“Circles is a great place to listen and express your ideas. It has allowed me to meet so many amazing, growth minded people from across the city!”
Ron shared more of his Circles experience in his blog which also featured an interview with Circles Facilitator, Rita. Check out the full blog here.
We’re thrilled to announce that our TEDxToronto facilitators will be hosting an exclusive special edition of Circles on March 11th. Participate in intimate, virtual conversations centered around the talks from Part 3 & 4 of our Uncharted speaker series and connect directly with other participants to discover new perspectives. This Circle is only available for Uncharted attendees, you can purchase your ticket here.
More on TED Circles
TED Circles are small, intimate, virtual sessions that create space for personal connection. Participants gather in small groups to watch an inspiring TED Talk and share an in-depth conversation on the ideas. We began hosting TED Circles as an opportunity to bring the community together, as the world adapted to the impacts of the pandemic. Through these intimate gatherings we were able to continue to share Ideas Worth Spreading and bring the community together in a time where connection was so important.
TED Circles for the TEDxToronto community will be back this March, ready to take on the new year ahead! Make sure to subscribe below to be notified when our next TED Circles sessions open up.
